About Jennifer "Jen" Heath

Jen is an advocate for the strong growth potential that our city offers and she believes that Brookhaven’s greatest asset is its neighborhoods and sense of community.  She knows there is room for smart development that can benefit all aspects of the city, protect natural resources, and preserve neighborhoods while ensuring fiscal responsibility to taxpayers.    Her passion for ensuring that all residents are informed and have a voice in the direction of their city drove her to form the We Are Brookhaven group to help bridge the communication gap. The volunteer group focused on topics including plans for development at Marta, the Peachtree Overlay, and the Character Area studies as well as parks and bond issues.  Smaller groups then focused on learning about how the city worked, what was required of the boards to make a decision and they, in turn, spoke for and against many issues in front of the zoning board, planning commission, and the city council. The “red shirts” as they became known, are educated and passionate residents who have continued to help others in addressing specific issues that impact them.

Jen was a member of the MARTA Citizens Review Board and a stakeholder in the Character Area Studies.  Her passion for nature drove her to assist the North Dekalb Greenspace Alliance (now known as the Friends of Ashford Park Preserve) in securing thirty-three acres of untouched forest to be protected as a natural greenspace for Brookhaven.  In these roles and as a concerned citizen, she has met with city residents, leaders, developers, consultants, and the media to gather and share feedback on various issues. With a focus on building community relationships, Jen is determined to make Brookhaven a better place for its residents.

Jennifer is a native of the Atlanta area, growing up she lived in Brookhaven, and Ft. Lauderdale. She returned to Brookhaven in 1991 where she attended and graduated from Oglethorpe University with a BA degree in Management Information Systems and is a member of Delta Gamma.  She has 30 years of experience in operations and project management and is currently a senior technical project manager for MaxMedia Digital Agency in Atlanta. When not focusing on work or city issues, Jen is a tireless advocate for pet rescue and adoption.
